Trailing

Some treasures you have to go looking for. Endless Cascades® Nabawensis ( Hoya nabawensis ) is a species hoya from the forests of Sabah, Borneo, trailing in fine, branching stems hung with small tear-drop leaves — thick, leathery, deep green, and scattered with irregular silver flecks like spray off a wave. Give it bright, indirect light and a chunky mix, and let it dry partway between waterings. In time it may reward your patience with umbels of tiny, downy star-flowers, cream around a yellow crown.

Beautifall® 'Sea Storm' ( Epipremnum ) brings all the drama of a churning ocean indoors. Its narrow, cream-colored leaves are flecked and frosted with green like sea spray against a ship, with even more cream variegation than a typical 'Marble Queen' pothos, so every leaf looks like foam on the surf. Like other variegated pothos, it shows its most tempestuous tones in plenty of bright, indirect light, such as an east- or west-facing window. Let it trail from a shelf or climb a moss pole, and enjoy smooth sailing through any storm.

If you love the bold variegation of 'N'Joy', get ready to meet its bigger, even better cousin: Beautifall® 'Icy Mammoth' ( Epipremnum ). True to its ice-age name, this pothos grows jumbo, heart-shaped leaves splashed in layers of cream, jade and deep green, all rising from cream-colored stems. Best of all, its dramatic color pattern is stable, so you'll enjoy that frosty variegation leaf after leaf. Let it trail or climb a moss pole, and give it medium to bright, indirect light, such as an east- or west-facing window. A mammoth presence, minus the tusks.
