leafjoy littles®

One look at this white-veined Fittonia and you’ll be able to see where the common name “nerve plant” comes from. Like other nerve plants, ‘World Views’ features low-growing, creeping foliage with oval-shaped green leaves that have the distinctive veining one would expect to see on an anatomy diagram of the nervous system.

If it bleeds, it leads–and this crimson-veined fittonia is sure to be the ‘Breaking News’ in your collection! ’Breaking News’ has heavy red veining that really pops in contrast to the dark green leaf margins. The ovate leaves have edges that are ever-so-slightly ruffled. Like other nerve plants, ‘Breaking News’ will stay relatively compact and creep in a low-growing habit.

Network News ‘Nightly’ is the more dramatic, heavily-contrasted counterpart to ‘Daytime’. This dainty, spilling plant has ovate-shaped leaves of dark green, overlaid with beautiful pink veining.

‘Current News’ will grab your attention with its dramatic, low-growing foliage. Leaves are very dark green with heavy magenta-pink veining. Leaves have serrated, ruffled edges. ‘Current News’ will provide a pretty pop of pink in a terrarium or under cloche.

Here’s another lovely Fittonia worthy of bringing verdant style into your space ‘All the Time!’ Like other nerve plants, this is a low-growing, creeping plant with small, ovate leaves. ‘All the Time’ is adorned in a flawless fishnet-pattern of white veining.

Meet ‘Pixie Punk’, a spunky spider plant that brings a whole lot of leafjoy® in a little package! ‘Pixie Punk’ has strappy, lanceolate leaves of bright green, edged in white, that grow in a funky, spiky clump. On occasion, it may even surprise you with star-shaped, white flowers. You’ll know your ‘Pixie Punk’ is really rockin’ on when you see it send out little plantlets, or baby spiders!

Falling Arrows® 'Pink Splash' ( Syngonium podophyllum ) lives up to its name — every glossy, arrowhead-shaped leaf carries its own splash of pink across rich green, brightening the more light it gets. Give it medium to bright, indirect light to keep the color vivid, and water once the top inch of soil dries out. Left alone it will vine and trail; trim it back to keep the splash compact on a desk or shelf.

Lowcountry™ brings a little Southern marsh magic indoors, its slender leaves arching like tide grass caught mid-breeze. This Chlorophytum is easygoing by nature — bright, indirect light suits it best, though it won't fuss in a shadier corner, and letting the top inch of soil dry between waterings keeps it content. Tucked in its ceramic pot, it's already sending out the first gentle bends of what will become a fuller, fountaining canopy over time — an easy-care arch of green for a shelf, desk, or sunny sill.

Network News ‘Media’ is a low-growing, creeping nerve plant with smooth, ovate leaves that are awash in red coloring. Unlike most nerve plants, the red veining on ‘Media’ is bleeding into the rest of the leaves, giving the appearance of a plant that is more red than green. Like other Fittonias, ‘Media’ loves bright light and humidity.

Network News ‘Dispatch’ is the pink counterpart to Network News ‘Media’ with low-growing, creeping leaves of lime green with pink veining. Unlike most nerve plants, the pink veining on ‘Dispatch’ bleeds into the margins of the leaves, giving the appearance of a plant that is almost more pink than green. Like other Fittonias, ‘Dispatch’ loves bright light and humidity.

Most ferns keep their best trick up in the fronds. Living Lace® Wooly Tassel™ keeps its down on the soil: this rabbit's foot fern ( Davallia fejeensis ) pairs finely cut, dark green fronds with fuzzy, light brown rhizomes that creep across the surface of the pot and dangle over the rim like little tassels. Those furry feet are the whole show, so let them wander instead of tidying them away. Keep 'Wooly Tassel' out of direct sun, which scorches the fronds, and water when the top inch of soil feels dry, never leaving it soggy. Half lace, half fringe, and entirely fern.

Every frond on Living Lace® Twirly Whirly™ seems to have made up its own mind about which way to grow. This Boston fern ( Nephrolepis exaltata ) crinkles and spirals its emerald fronds in unexpected directions, stacking into a compact, lacy crown that tops out around a foot tall. Give 'Twirly Whirly' the softer light of an east- or north-facing window, well away from midday sun, and water once the top inch of soil feels dry. Ferns like their air humid, so a pebble tray or a steamy bathroom keeps those frilly frond edges from browning. This is lace that could not sit still.

Add a little sparkle to your shelf with Living Lace® 'Verdant Sequin' ( Pellaea ), your quintessential button fern. Glossy, round leaflets are strung like sequins along arching fronds, their verdant green set off beautifully by rusty brown stems. Native to New Zealand and Australia, 'Verdant Sequin' is adapted to drier, rockier ground than most ferns, so it's forgiving if your home isn't especially humid. Give it medium, indirect light, such as an east- or north-facing window, and enjoy a fern that shines without the fuss.

Light, airy and almost otherworldly, Living Lace® 'Ethereal' ( Asparagus ) is the most weightless thread in the Living Lace® collection. Its feather-soft, thread-like foliage seems to float, swaying in even the slightest breeze. Here's a little secret: despite its delicate looks, 'Ethereal' isn't a true fern at all. It belongs to the asparagus family, which makes it far more adaptable and forgiving than its lacy looks suggest. Give it medium, indirect light and a bit of humidity, and let this graceful plant bring a soft, dreamy touch to your space.

Spin a little lace into your home with Living Lace® 'Fritz Luthi' ( Adiantum ), an elegant take on the classic maidenhair fern. Triangular fronds are finely divided into fan-shaped leaflets that dangle like delicate trim from nearly black stems, a striking contrast to foliage that emerges almost chartreuse and deepens to blue-green over time. Give 'Fritz Luthi' medium, indirect light, such as an east- or north-facing window, plenty of humidity, and gentle bottom watering, and this woodland beauty will keep its lacework looking fresh.

Introducing Shimmering Falls® ‘Sage and Cream™’, a low-maintenance classic with a touch of elegance built right in ( Scindapsus pictus ). This satin pothos boasts thick, heart-shaped leaves of rich green, lined in fine silvery edges and sprinkled with splotches of variegation in sparkling shades of sage and cream. Feeling this silky-smooth foliage, you’ll understand why this species earned the nickname “Satin Pothos.” Care for ‘Sage and Cream’ the way you would any pothos — medium to bright, indirect light, and a drink once the top 1–2 inches of soil dries out — and it will reward you with vines of shimmering, cascading leaves.

Pop the cork for Falling Arrows® Champaign Reign™ ( Syngonium podophyllum ), a bubbly blend of ease and elegance. This arrowhead vine unfurls pale, shimmering green leaves splashed with effervescent champagne pink — no toast required, just a little care and it'll outlast any glass of bubbly. Give it medium to bright, indirect light and let the top inch of soil dry out between waterings, and 'Champaign Reign' will keep the celebration going, trimmed compact for a desk or left to trail freely and fizz over the pot's edge.

Some treasures you have to go looking for. Endless Cascades® Nabawensis ( Hoya nabawensis ) is a species hoya from the forests of Sabah, Borneo, trailing in fine, branching stems hung with small tear-drop leaves — thick, leathery, deep green, and scattered with irregular silver flecks like spray off a wave. Give it bright, indirect light and a chunky mix, and let it dry partway between waterings. In time it may reward your patience with umbels of tiny, downy star-flowers, cream around a yellow crown.
