Here’s an anthurium that is sure to become the object of your affection–’Heart’s Desire’. Named after the Malay word for “tortoise” or the Indonesian word for “turtle” is a unique tropical plant known as ‘Kura Kura’ Labisia. This rare, eye catching specimen has elliptical-shaped, glossy leaves adorned with the patterns and textures of a turtle’s shell. Though an often slow grower, ‘Kura Kura’ will thrive in a warm, high-humidity environment, making it especially well-suited for life under glass.

Named after American physician-botanist, Dr. Jeff Block’s, lovely wife, is a show-stopping, nearly as lovely anthurium with a bold, modern edge. This hybrid is a cross between Hoya carnosa and Hoya serpens, and features small, succulent, almond-shaped leaves of dark green. Avoid removing spent flower spurs, as ‘Adrift’ is capable of reblooming on old peduncles.

Introducing ‘Double-Edged Sword”–a clumping, upright philodendron worthy of adding to your arsenal. It has dark green, lance-shaped leaves, with toothy, serrated edges. The leaves are puckered along the midrib on either side, giving them a wavy quality. In terms of adaptability, ‘Double-Edged Sword’ is a cut above most houseplants, tolerating a wide variety of light levels; it does, however, grow fastest in bright, indirect light. The occasional leaf shine will go a long way in keeping your ‘Double-Edged Sword’ looking its sharpest.

Say hello to Cling-On ‘Anastasia’, a Ficus benjamina that has been bred to have leaves that resist dropping; they literally cling to this ficus. ‘Anastasia’ has slender, arching branches that carry shiny, variegated leaves of light and dark green. She can take on the form of a small tree, or grow as a multi-stemmed plant with a bushy habit. In order to keep your ‘Anastasia’ showing her most prominent variegation, she needs to be given plenty of bright light, such as can be found in a west- or south-facing window.

This iconic houseplant has become a staple in many homes, and for good reason. It is an easy grower, and the fenestrated leaves with their unusual holes and slits are truly eye-catching! Juvenile plant foliage will be solid, and fenestrations will appear over time as the plant gets bigger and grows. There are a lot of common names for this plant, including Swiss Cheese Plant, Swiss Cheese Vine, Mexican Breadfruit, Split-Leaf Philodendron, and more. Please note that while this is NOT a Philodendron, the genera Monstera and Philodendron are indeed related.

If you’re looking to expand your plant palate, look no further than ‘Spice is Nice’ Peperomia. This baby rubber plant or pepper elder, has cupped, succulent leaves of glossy green, perched upon cinnamon-colored stems. Just like the perfect blend of seasoning in a well-loved recipe, ‘Spice is Nice’ adds warmth and character wherever it is displayed! This peperomia will maintain a compact stature, over time, but its upright stems do have the potential to develop a trailing habit.

Other hoyas splash silver; Endless Cascades® 'Blushing Sunset™' ( Hoya wibergiae ) prefers to blush. Tiny air pockets beneath the surface of its thick, oval leaves scatter the light into rosy, sunset-pink flecks, each leaf patterned a little differently. Choose it in a simple ceramic pot and let the vines trail, or on a Climb-itt™ tripod and train them upward. Keep it in bright, indirect light and let it dry out between waterings; if the pink fades, move it nearer a west- or south-facing window to help the color return at golden hour.

Meet Prismacolor ‘Golden Girl,’ a philodendron that’s as good as gold. She has elongated, lance-shaped leaves with toothy edges. Her shiny, bright green leaves are flecked in golden variegation. On occasion, pops of red, bronze, or orange will adorn her leaves, stems, and sheaths. Given the proper support, such as a moss pole, ‘Golden Girl’ will ascend skyward on her quest for a golden crown. Like other philodendrons, ‘Golden Girl’ is adaptable to her environment & easy to care for; bright, indirect light will result in the most pronounced variegation.

Named after Vang Vieng, Laos, where it was discovered growing epiphytically in the humid shade of limestone mountains, is another rare hoya–Hoya vangviengiensis. Try saying that name five times fast! ‘Vangviengiensis’ has thick, succulent leaves of solid, glossy green. Leaves are coated in a delicate layer of peach fuzz, making them smooth to touch. If given the proper conditions, ‘Vangviengiensis’ will send out fragrant, fuzzy flowers of pearlescent white. Like other hoyas, this hoya is a climber and should be given a hoop or some other trellis structure to twine around.

With leaves that hang like the airy lights of a chandelier, Ficus bengalensis or Chandelier ‘Happiness’ is sure to brighten up any space and put a smile on your face. Also known as a Banyan Tree fig, this ficus is a delightful alternative to the finicky fiddle leaf fig. Native to India, where it thrives as a grand canopy tree, Chandelier ‘Happiness’ can be grown into a graceful, upright & well-mannered shape in your home; in years it will have a tree form.  It has smooth, light-colored stems that grow woody over time, and oval-shaped leaves of medium green, with contrasting, light-colored veining and irresistible peach fuzz coating. To keep your ‘Happiness’ its happiest, and prevent it from growing overly leggy, give it as much bright light as possible and keep it away from cold drafts in winter.

ColorFull® ‘Orbifolia’ wants to be at the center of your universe. With its broad, rounded leaves akin to “orbs” and elegantly striped in silvery-green, it demands your admiration. If you give this iconic Calathea the conditions it craves, it will dazzle you with its Instagrammably good looks. ‘Orbifolia’ has the potential to grow quite large over time, but please remember that this is one of the thinner-leaved varieties of calathea, therefore, it may be less tolerant of tap water and may require higher humidity to prevent leaf edges from turning brown and crispy.

Here’s a BOO-tiful Ficus elastica for your houseplant collection–Chroma® Ghost Rider™. Like other rubber plants, Ghost Rider™ grows in an upright habit. Prismacolor ‘Orange you Gorgeous’ is a philodendron that will have you saying “Orange you Gorgeous!” This tropical houseplant is a living kaleidoscope of citrus-inspired colors, with elongated, spade-shaped leaves emerging a mottled bright orange color, then slowly fading to a marbled tapestry of gold & green. Leaf petioles, midribs, and margins have a warm, orangey glow, reminiscent of a sunrise over a tropical grove. Here’s an unusual variety of Hoya, grown for its uniquely patterned foliage. Hoya callistophylla ‘Shadow Falls’ sends out vines of light green, lanceolate leaves, patterned or “shadowed” with dark green veining in a pinnate pattern.  On the rare occasion it blooms, it sends out little clusters of pale, citrus-scented blooms with edges that blush over time. When your ‘Shadow Falls’ is done blooming, be careful not to cut away the spent flower spurs, as this variety of hoya reblooms on old spurs. 

This stunning, unusual Philodendron is nothing short of GLORIOUS! It is not an upright or climbing philodendron–rather, it creeps horizontally via rhizomes. In nature, ‘Gloriosum’ is found creeping along the jungle floor. It features rich green, velvety-soft, heart-shaped leaves with contrasting white veins. Leaves have the potential to grow quite large over time, making ‘Gloriosum’ truly glorious!

Step into the wild with ‘African Jungle’, a rex begonia with mounding, clumping leaves that capture all the vibrance of a sub-saharan rainforest. Each asymmetrical, deeply-serrated leaf is a riot of color, with plum-to-purple centers, shimmering splashes of silver & lavender, and rich green margins, edged in more purple.
